Conceived and produced in a time before global tragedy struck, Heirloom confronts us with the possibility of sudden loss and the need for consolation that may come in the most varied forms. Now, in a time where death seems so much closer, the film gains an almost visionary relevance. Following Caro, who, lost in grief after the death of her partner, discovers an unexpected parting gift, Heirloom examines the impact of loss and the power of a thoughtful gesture. Almost entirely without dialogue, the film harnesses strong performance and simple, lingering visuals to arrive at the question: What will you leave behind?
