Isiphethu On Tour
The Isiphethu On Tour Programme aims to host community screenings as a vehicle to promote films and share the cinematic experience with audiences that are far from the cinemas. Filmmakers visit these areas to facilitate information exchange and often receive questions and answers about their films. Our programme prioritises live screenings this year since many people have been forced to stay indoors for the past two years. This is an opportunity for us to reconnect with the province’s communities. The festival drives an awareness campaign and training in some areas linked to the screenings.
Our On Tour programme feature Malcolm Nhleko’s film titled Madala Kunene ‘uMkhumbane In Me’ as well as Sarafina, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Malcolm will also deliver a workshop on the filmmaking process at the Luthuli Museum in Groutville on 18 July.
The programme will kick start on the 16 July at Wushwini Pan African Art Centre situated near Inanda Dam and continue to other community venues such as KCAP in KwaMashu, UBUNTUNest in Howick and Denis Hurley in the heart of Durban city.
