Mac Nixon is a BAFTA-nominated and BBC-credited writer/director whose work blends striking visual storytelling with grounded, emotional resonant themes. His films have screened at festivals around the world including Cannes and reflect a strong sense of atmosphere, craft, and character. His latest short film FLOCK, funded by Film4 and the BFI is set to begin its festival run, following on from Jackdaw, a BBC-commissioned piece supported by Ffilm Cymru and the BFI Network. With a background that spans narrative film and commercial work as Creative Director of STORM+SHELTER, Nixon moves confidently between genres and formats. His voice as a filmmaker is defined by a willingness to explore complex ideas, subvert expectations, and craft stories that are both artistically ambitious and emotionally grounded. Featuring a strong emphasis on striking world building, art direction, performance, sound design and score; his vision often takes viewers outside of expected reality in order to immerse audiences in the central theme and heartbeat of a story. Now, as he develops his debut feature, Nixon continues to shape a distinctive approach to storytelling, one that balances clarity with depth and mood with meaning.
