Film Festival Residency Programme
Empowering Festival Directors
The DIFF Film Festival Residency will take place in Durban from 20 July – 27 July 2026, where Festival Directors will develop and unite as a network that helps to strengthen their festivals and the promotion of South African cinema.
Eight Festival Directors will be selected to spend the 7 days, during the 47th Durban International Film Festival, engaging around strategic planning and curation.
Eligibility Requirements
- Open to Festival Directors of South African Film Festivals (or member of the festival’s management / key operational team)
- The festival should have delivered at least 2 editions, with confirmed dates and funding for 2026/7
- Applicants should have at least 3 years working at film festivals
- The programme is conducted in English
Funding
- DIFF will provide bed and breakfast, airport transfers, a daily stipend, accreditation for the 47th Durban International Film Festival and 17th Durban FilmMart Institute.
The deadline for submissions is 4 April 2026.
