Sizwe Kubeka is a South African director, writer, and actor focused on emotionally grounded, character-driven stories told through genre-blending lenses. He holds a BA in Live Performance from AFDA, where he also trained in cinematography, sound design, editing, and colour grading. His industry experience includes Netflix’s How to Ruin Christmas (Assistant Director), Ferguson Films’ The Queen (Script Supervisor), and multiple productions for Mzansi Magic and MultiChoice. Raised between a small mining town and his grandparents’ rural township, Sizwe developed a deep curiosity about people, their contradictions, survival instincts, and the quiet choices that define them. His work balances entertainment with meaning, favouring stories that reveal their themes through character rather than exposition. The Break-In is his official directorial debut, a bold, character-driven short film that explores desperation and dignity in a sharply unequal society. He is currently developing additional short films, a feature and an original TV series exploring power, truth and memory.
