DURBAN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL MANAGER (1 POST)
SCHOOL OF ARTS

(ONE YEAR FIXED-TERM APPOINTMENT: ONE YEAR)
The successful candidate will be placed in the Centre for Creative Arts to curate, manage and administrate the Durban International Film Festival, a project of the Centre for Creative Arts. S/he must have a comprehensive understanding of the South African film industry as well as possess strong networks with film sector stakeholders in South Africa, the African continent and across leading global film festivals. S/he must have proven experience in writing successful proposals for film festival fundraising proposals and liaising with relevant role-players from the arts funding sector. Reporting to the Director for the Centre for Creative Arts s/he will ensure the efficient execution of all logistical, technical, marketing and artistic operations of the Durban International Film Festival and oversee the curatorial standards of the iSipethu Film Industry Development programme. The successful candidate will need to be diplomatic, have the ability to pay attention to detail and be able to work under pressure. The candidate will also be expected to work irregular hours during the days of the Festival.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Matric plus a relevant degree in film, media or cultural studies
- Minimum three years of experience in a cultural environment and preferably in the film sector
- Proven experience in proposal writing, budgeting, curation and event management
- Experience of working in a formalized institution where administrative and compliance protocols must be rigidly adhered too.
The Remuneration is R37 716 per month
