Dorothy Allen-Pickard

Dorothy is a filmmaker from London. Her practice is grounded in a deep interest in other people and a will to raise social consciousness. She merges documentary, fictional and theatrical techniques, and is a member of the award-winning theatre company Breach.  Dorothy’s films have been awarded Best UK Short at Open City Doc Fest, Special Mention at Oberhausen, Grand Prix at Arts Convergence, Young Director Award, shortlisted for a Grierson, received multiple Vimeo Staff Picks and have screened at festivals including LFF, Clermont Ferrand, Doc NYC, Sheffield Doc Fest, Edinburgh International Film Festival, and on POV Shorts, The Guardian, BBC 3, Vice and more. In 2019 she completed an MA in Directing Fiction at Goldsmiths University, received the BFI New Talent Award and was named as one of Broadcast’s Hotshots. In 2022, she worked as director’s assistant on the Netflix series Kaos and was selected to take part in Network @LFF. She is currently a member of Bafta Connect and is developing her debut feature.
