David is an industry professional with 23 years of industry experience and 19 years of broadcast management experience working both in the free to air, as well as satellite and DTT pay –TV broadcasting space. His experience also includes being the Head of Commissioning for the SABC and contributing towards industry development under his company, “Industry Development Entertainment Hub”. He conducted local industry development initiatives, including running broadcast management workshops at festivals and facilitating at local universities as a guest lecturer under his company. David studied Film and Television under the Honours BA degree through Witwatersrand and is currently finalising his MBA research thesis with Henley Business School. David has built networks around the world through the acquisition of content and attendance of international markets. It is through the experiential learning across the different workshops, content markets and festivals around the world that one grows and learns more about the industry and it is also through being a part of the delivery of new ideas and spaces that one gains invaluable insights that can never be earned through formal education. Engagement with the broader television and film industry is what has contributed to the growth and development of Mr Makubyane over and above the relevant formal education.
