A young man attempts to reconnect with his estranged mother. They share different experiences in a bid to establish a connection. He observes the relentless abuse and neglect she experiences daily and her desperate attempts to escape it. Recalling his time with her he struggles to understand her enduring trauma and its effect on their relationship Unable to make sense of her avoidance tactics and her inability to change he must reach a difficult decision.

Riley Blakeway

Riley Blakeway is an Australian born award-winning filmmaker. His films have screened at festivals around the world, including the UKMVA’s the Vimeo awards, SXSW, Raindance, Ciclope and The New Orleans Film Festival. His work has been shared by The New York Times, The Atlantic, Huffington Post, Pitchfork, Clash, ID, NPR, Rolling Stone and The Los Angeles Times. Most recently, Riley’s collaborations with Ghanian-Australian performing artist Genesis Owusu landed him his ninth Vimeo staff pick and an award for Tripple J’s, Australian Music Video of the year. His experimental Australian short INVINCIBL3 premiered on Nowness and has since been featured by Director’s Library, the One Point Four Awards, the Webby Awards and was awarded for Best Direction in a Music Video at the 2022 Australian Directors Guild Awards.
