Maqhawe Xaba is an emerging filmmaker from uMlazi, Durban. He has a BA in Film and Television Studies & Media and Writing and a BA (Honours) in Media and Cultural Studies. For his honours he co-directed a documentary that investigated the usefulness of ablution blocks in a Durban informal settlement and wrote and directed a short film The Two Strands of Happiness. He has worked and attended various literary and film festivals and is currently reading for a master’s in film and television studies at the University of Cape Town. He hopes to specialise in adapting South African novels into film or television series.
