Amin Pakparvar, born in 1998, is an MA student in Visual and Critical Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He writes critical essays for film and cultural publications such as F News Magazine. After practicing for years, he made a short documentary film, Death and the Dragon (2020) which won the best research prize at the Oscar-qualified 38th Tehran Short Film Festival. He was a production manager of the Iran-Germany Student Exchange Project in collaboration with the University of Babelsberg in Germany. As a filmmaker based in Chicago, his diasporic films reflect Iran’s historical and cultural issues.
