Julie Nederkoorn

Julie Nederkoorn brings over a decade of experience in the international film and film festival landscape, where she has contributed as a moderator, advisor, panellist, juror, decision-maker, and workshop facilitator across numerous global festivals and markets. She is driven by a strong belief in film as a force for social change. Since joining Movies that Matter in 2015, Julie now is the Head of the International Programme supporting and amplifying human rights film festivals across Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe, with providing funding, training, strategic guidance, and access to a global network. She also oversees the Activist Lens programme, which showcases documentaries on human rights defenders at the Movies that Matter Festival, and managed the Human Rights Film Network, a global partnership of more than 50 festivals. Prior to this, Julie worked as Partnership Coordinator at MasterPeace and held communications and project roles across various organizations. She serves on the advisory board of the International Coalition for Filmmakers at Risk.
