Omelga Mthiyane is a South African documentary filmmaker from Inanda, KwaZulu-Natal, whose work explores cultural heritage, identity, and social justice. A graduate of the Durban University of Technology, she has built a distinguished career in documentary storytelling, with films screened at international festivals including the Sundance Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival. Her work has been broadcast on platforms such as SABC, BBC, and Al Jazeera. Mthiyane is a SAFTA-nominated filmmaker and recipient of the Best Short Documentary award at the Jozi Film Festival for her documentary Lefu.
